Understanding the American Recovery Act and How to Get Your Fair Share of ARRA Education Grant Funding
Target Audience: Government agencies, public school systems, charter schools, private schools, charter school organizations and nonprofit organizations.
PURPOSE: The purpose of the training is:
- To help participants understand current ARRA funding streams such as the $4.4 billion Race to the Top (R3T) Program, the $3.5 billion School Improvement Program and the $650 million Investing in Innovation (i3) Program and the requirements and criteria for participation;
- To develop strategies to access ARRA grant funding either directly as a grantee, or indirectly as a sub grantee, or as a partner organization; and
- To learn how to track developments at the Federal and state level, as appropriate, regarding ARRA funding streams.
LEARNER OUTCOMES: Participants will learn:
- The major legislative and regulatory restrictions and/or eligibility limitations for each ARRA funding stream;
- To understand the nexus between Federal and state roles and authority in respective ARRA funding streams;
- To understand and be responsive to the major school reform “themes” that the United States Department of Education has included in all ARRA funding stream requirements;
- Which types of organizations or partnerships are eligible to apply for each ARRA funding stream;
- To understand what types of projects each funding stream will support and the allowable activities and permissible use of funds for each;
- How to develop strategic partnerships with eligible applicant organizations in order to participate in an ARRA grant proposal; and
- Where to find the most up-to-date information on ARRA funding streams, proposed and final regulations, legislative language, and Federal and state actions, in order to stay current with ARRA developments.
